How do I know if my vehicle is eligible for glass repair?

There are three main factors that our experts examine to determine if your windshield or window is eligible for repair: the size, depth and location of the chip or crack. If you think your vehicle is eligible for glass repair, give us a call.

Size and Depth of Windshield Chip or Crack

According to the Repair of Laminated Automotive Glass Standard (ROLAGS) guide that is put out by the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA), a repairable chip shouldn’t be larger than three inches, and a crack can be up to 14 inches in length. Typically, chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than three inches are the easiest to repair, but if the damage punctures the inner layer of glass as well as the outer layer, the windshield may need to be replaced. In that event, our experts are happy to help determine the extent of the damages and what we can do to get your car up and running again.

Location of Windshield Chip or Crack

Location also plays an important role in determining whether your vehicle’s glass needs to be repaired. It’s especially important to repair cracks or chips in the driver’s line of sight as soon as possible, but doing so can be tricky because repairs can reduce visibility if not done properly. That’s why we always recommend calling on our expertise for help!

It’s also crucial that vehicle owners take action when you notice cracks near the edge of your windshield. Because windshields help maintain the vehicle’s structural integrity, a sturdy windshield is crucial to keeping your passengers safe, especially if the vehicle rolls over.
